On-Call Water and Sewer Main Extension Engineering Design Services (2007-2013), Howard County, MD: Project Surveyor. Since 2000, Mr. Ruzicka has been involved in on-call services under several contracts for Howard County to study and recommend design improvements and extension for water distribution and sewer conveyance systems, water and sewer main rehabilitation, energy audits, and facility upgrades. Projects have included preparation of alignment studies, field surveys, contract drawings and specifications, field subsurface investigations, bid documents, utility/right-of-way documents, cost estimates, and construction phase services.
Water and Sewer Rehabilitation Basic Ordering Agreement, Contract PM0007A06. Prince George's and Montgomery Counties, MD. Survey/SUE Manager. This basic ordering agreement contract involved water and sewer design services to repair, rehabilitate, replace, and relocate water and sewer pipelines and appurtenances, as identified in WSSC’s Capital Improvement Program. Work also included condition assessments of existing water and sewer pipelines and appurtenances proposed to be incorporated into the WSSC district.
Basic Ordering Agreement - Water and Sewer Utility Relocation. Prince George's & Montgomery Counties, MD. Survey Manager. Performed several tasks as part of a $750,000 Basic Ordering Agreement to relocate Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission utilities in Prince George's and Montgomery Counties. Tasks involved study reports, design plans and specifications, construction cost estimates and construction phase services. Services such as corrosion control, route studies valve/vault design, geotechnical services, structural engineering, maintenance of traffic, right-of-way, environmental permitting, erosion and sediment control, and CADD were also performed.
On-Call Environmental Engineering Services for Hazardous Waste Handling, Project No. 967. Baltimore, MD. Surveyor. The project involved on-call environmental engineering services for handling hazardous waste materials. Services included sampling and analysis of hazardous water, determining extent of contamination, preparing reports, interpreting federal, state and local regulations, designing safe and cost-effective methods for the disposal of hazardous materials including lead, chrome, and oil contaminated soils, oversight of construction projects impacted by hazardous waste, preparing bid documents and cost estimates and assisting the city with meeting State/EPA Grant and Loan requirements and schedules. Tasks completed included UST compliance and hazardous waste materials management for the Central Garage. Mr. Ruzicka provided surveying support services, which included the design of a new sanitary sewer connection. This task required only a limited amount of disturbance, avoiding unnecessary submittals to Baltimore County SCD. This time saving measure will allow the county to meet construction deadlines for the project.
Mattawoman Interceptor Upgrade Feasibility Study Phase 1 & 2. Charles County, MD. Project Surveyor. Project involved the development of a feasibility study which addressed the condition and capacity of the sewer between interceptor manhole numbers 40 to 125, approximately 52,100 feet. The purpose of the study was to evaluate the current condition and capacities of the interceptor, forecast future flows, identify potential capacity improvement alternatives, evaluate alternatives, and make recommendations to the county.
MD 229 Phase II - Water System Interconnection. Charles County, MD. Surveyor. Supported engineering services to design a 16-inch water distribution main with various system interconnections to tie the Waldorf water system with the Eutaw Forest and Settle Woods systems. Survey activities included detailed topographic survey for design purposes, determined the existing right-of-way, and prepared easement plats for proposed water line.
